Environmental Statement
GAR Products® is a company born in tradition and distinguished as a source for modern day needs. By integrating traditional manufacturing with unique, green initiatives, they set themselves apart from their competitors. They design, develop, and manufacture products with constant awareness of environmental concerns. GAR Products® is respectful of the consumer’s desire to contribute to the protection of the environment and responsibly offers products that meet these standards. Without the understanding of today’s ecological issues it would be impossible for a company to forecast the market’s demands.
Sustainable development marries two important themes: Environmental protection does not preclude economic development and economic development must be ecologically viable now and in the future. Common use of the term “sustainability” began with the 1987 publication of the World Commission on Environment and Development report, “Our Common Future.” Also known as the Brundtland Report, this document defined sustainable development as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” This concept of sustainability encompasses ideas, aspirations, and values that continue to inspire public and private organizations to become better stewards of the environment while promoting positive economic growth and social objectives. The principles of sustainability can stimulate technological innovation, advance competitiveness, and improve our quality of life.
Company Information
GAR Products® is a family owned and operated corporation specializing in quality seating, table tops, and table bases for every caliber of the hospitality and design industries. Founded in 1956 by Morris H. Garfunkle (Mr. GAR), GAR Products® is entering its third generation of family ownership, continuing to evolve with cutting-edge designs and enduring passion while protecting our environment.
In November 2006, GAR Products® began purchasing 100% of its power through Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from 3 Phases Energy. As a result, GAR Products® is preventing more than 1.0 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
GAR Products® is replacing all of their factory lighting with energy efficient fluorescents equipped with sensors. The factory sends foam scraps back to the manufacturer to be recycled, and all scrap metals, cardboard, and mixed paper are being recycled. Where paper is needed, 100% recycled paper is being used while striving towards a paperless office.
GAR Products® has been certified

GAR Products® uses suppliers who support the same vision
Since GAR Products’® obligation is responsible manufacturing, our need for suppliers with the same vision is extremely important. We have built long-term relationships with European factories that contribute to the regeneration of Beechwood forests. GAR Products® is also forming alliances with companies whose statement on the environment is similar to our own. Our in-house resource library is dedicated to vendors who incorporate sustainable fabrics from recycled material, PVC free vinyl, environmentally friendly Crypton®, and other Green options. We launched a sampling program with Wilsonart, a Greenguarded company, in order to provide matching laminates with our standard Ultra Violet finishes to the A&D community, Hotel Groups, and Restaurant dealers.
We strengthen our green initiatives by providing our customers with an increased number of options in relation to foam, fabric, and surfacing material choices.
